What is to be Lost?
What is Lost?
Who is Lost?
Who Lost it?
Who lost the faith?
Who lost the perspective?
Who lost the hope?
Who lost the future?
Who expoiled idealism?
Who betrayed Humanity?

Lost, Lost, Lost...

Do you realize that being lost is a prerequisite to be found?
Do you know that “crisis” etymology means “change” in ancient Greek?
Do you realize that Future cannot be lost... Future happens, anyhow... No matter whether it is planned or not...?

There are moments in History that the system becomes blocked
There are moments in History that the old answers don´t work any more
There are moments in History that is needed to think out of the box
There are moments in History that no heroes, no savers, no rulers can do anything
There are moments in History that just the concurrence of anonymous individual people is needed.

Many years ago, some people used to be slave of other people and some priest had the monopoly of speaking in the name of the Lord... and a guy in Palestine said, “No way! All humans are my brothers and sisters. And I don´t need you as mediators as I am already the son of the Lord”. The guy was called Immanuel, some people said “Jesuschrist!”

In the times when everyone “knew” what it seems to be obvious, that “the world is firmly established and it cannot e moved”... and any idea such as the Earth flying around the Sun along the Universe was considered a sign of madness an even an heresy... someone was condemned for thinking so and said “eppure si muove / and yet it moves”

When segregation by race was perceived as a natural feature and neegers by law had to be polite and leave seats in the bus for white-anglo-saxon-people... a42 years old woman after a long journey of work she said “No way! I´m not moving from my place. I have the right to sit here”... and it meant the spark for the civil rights movement and the end of racial segregation.

When the overwhelming British Army was able to impose its law worldwide... a tiny man with a great soul said “No way”... and through hunger and not violence defeated the most powerful empire of all times.

This can change:
Would your grandparents believe when they were young that worldwide instant communication could ever be possible?
Would those who were born after a Wall believe one Germany would ever be united?
Would those who fought in the World Wars believe to be possible a University as this one... bringing together people from all continents, races and religions?

Things can change, faster than we sometimes imagine

Imagination is the most powerful tool ever existing, ever used by humanity

Everything what happens needs first to be imagined

The impossible is possible, but first it needs to be conceived

Whatever it happens, it needs to be imagined
Whatever it happens, it needs to be dreamt
Whatever we dream, we can make it happen
Whatever we believe, we can make it happen

Are you Lost... generation?
You can find yourselves

When old rules don´t work... new rules can be created
When old aims are vanished... renewed aims may rise
When old structures collapse... new mentalities can enlight humanity
Will you/we be the generation who was lost, who got lost?
Or will you/we be the generation who was able to find, the generation who found... the new founders?

Yes. It´s times of crisis. It´s times to change.

To chang e what?

It´s up to us to be decided
It´s up to us, people from 5 continents, to dream a much better society

We are privileged to be here. As not everyone in Cape Verde, Central Asia or Palestine got a visa to attend this University. Not everyone in Europe or America could attend the call of the NorthSouthCentre... We are responsible
We may accept our privilege
We may assume our responsibility
We are the only real United Nations known so far

Please dream

Please dream a model of society, a future for humankind
Imagine how could it be Life in this planet in a period of 30 years time
Now you are young, under development... How do you imagine yourselves as mature citizens? How do you imagine the society you´d like to pass to your grandsons and granddaughters?
What would you like to be the achievements of our lives?
You have the right to dream
You have the right to share your dreams
Think out of the box
Imagine with freedom, away of given structures and conditions
Let´s dream the seed of the World we dream
50 years ago a man he said “I have a dream”... and there´s still many things to do, and many things were already achieved...
